Pilobolus, the Emmy & the Olympics
Thomas has toured throughout the world as dancer and artistic collaborator in the world-renowned Pilobolus Dance Theatre, receiving an Emmy for his 1996 Kennedy Center performance of the Pilobolus work “Untitled,” starring annually in the Company’s sold-out New York performances, and performing in the opening ceremonies of the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
Education & Choreography
He holds an MFA in performance and choreography from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and has received multiple grants and awards for his choreographic work.
Youth Dance Programs
He developed youth dance programs in Florida, Ohio, Connecticut, and Oregon. The Cleveland-based “Youth At Risk Dancing” program received the “Coming up Taller” Award in 1999.
Teaching Across Continents
Thomas has taught at universities in Florida, Mexico City, Japan, and South Korea, with choreography in company repertories across Singapore, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, India, and Hawaii. He is currently a professor at Western Oregon University.
